weheartit

"We Heart It" is my favorite new "web toy", a bookmarking site for images (and video)

Its neat little bookmarklet (for Firefox) allows you to capture images embedded in a web page. Your images then appear on your own profile page for you to look at when ever the mood takes you. You can of course peruse the homepage to see what other users are bookmarking and there's an option to hide the more risque images if your at work or a prude. Great for art and design types looking for inspiration or those that just like to while away the time starring at interesting imagery.

Minty Forest

Josh and Nina are two friends. Every day, they each take a photo. Operating under a pact of absolute secrecy, neither knows what the other is working on. Each morning, they post their photos on Minty Forest side by side. The results are often surprising — not least to the photographers themselves.

Sweetcron

Sweetcon is a self hosted (on your own domain) tumblelog / lifestream software. A kind of hybrid of Tumblr and Friendfeed. You can use it as an automated lifestream like Friendfeed, a quick blogging tool like tumblr or a combination of both. Its in Public Beta, so though future improvements are likely is pretty stable and fully functional. While it lacks friendfeeds social aspects, in that it has comments but no built in friends to follow you, it has the advantage of not looking like crap. Tumblr looks great (plenty of themes to play with etc.), but as of yet there's no self hosting option and the number of feeds it can import is now limited to 5. There's no bookmarklet like tumblr, but that's something that could well appear in the near future.

Sweetcon is the brainchild of Yongfook who created and runs the popular Opensourcefood website. For an example of Sweetcron in action you can visit his personal site at www.yongfook.com and check out the video on his "The Blog Is Dead!" post that really explains the software.

Revolving Video

SJ Cult Movies Forum's "Snoog" tells you what he watched last night and more at his Revolving Video blog. I believe it takes it's name from the old school video store that he used to frequent back in the day.

Reel To Reel Deck RS 1500

Online Museum that pays tribute to nine decades of design developments and innovations and commemorates the 90thth Anniversary of Panasonic (Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd).

Its a shame though that its built in flash and the site designers thought obscuring the bottom of the product shots with a shiny white bar was in some way cool. Still it's an interesting site to visit, if you enjoy gazing at retro innovations.
